Chaos is erupting in Los Angeles as arsonists are caught on camera setting fires in urban areas far from the active wildfires devastating the region. This shocking development has been captured in Santa Monica, specifically at 302 Pico, where individuals were seen intentionally igniting flames.
Witnesses reported the incident to local authorities, and both the fire department and police promptly responded. Videos circulating online show blatant acts of arson in areas otherwise unaffected by the spreading wildfires.
One witness described the scene as “absolute mayhem” and warned others to remain vigilant. “People are intentionally lighting fires in non-burning urban areas of LA, then blaming it on climate change,” the witness claimed.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Just miles away in Studio City, a massive fire erupted, engulfing several structures and spreading embers to nearby vegetation. These spot fires are exacerbating an already dire situation as emergency crews struggle to contain the chaos.

Critics have taken to social media, accusing local officials and media outlets of downplaying or ignoring the arson incidents. Some argue that the politically charged climate surrounding wildfires and climate change is influencing how these events are reported—or not reported at all.

One commenter summed it up: “They’re going to attempt to cover these arsons up because of who the people setting the fires are. The narrative is too convenient.”
Authorities are urging the public to stay alert and report suspicious activity immediately. The intentional setting of fires in urban areas is putting lives at risk and diverting critical resources from fighting the larger wildfires consuming the state.
