Later, as Sortor tried to drive away, protesters surrounded the vehicle, blocking escape routes and escalating the attack. They smashed windows with frozen water bottles, spray-painted the truck, and shouted death threats. Sortor, fearing for his life, repeatedly warned them to move before driving through to safety. “Thank GOD federal agents were nearby, or this could’ve gotten ugly,” he reported. The mob then chased them down the interstate, forcing Sortor to veer off the road to evade pursuit.

Sortor posted on X: “These are the moments leading up to Minneapolis anti-ICE rioters SURROUNDING my vehicle, smashing my windows, and attempting to kiII Cam Higby and me. I was forced to drive away to save our lives… They didn’t listen, so I had no choice but to go anyway.” The rioters, in a stunning twist, called police claiming Sortor and Higby had guns and were “running innocent protestors over.” Both were detained by Eagan Police (acting on behalf of Minneapolis PD) after fleeing to their station for safety, but have since been released. “Detained by Eagan Police… Have since been released,” Sortor confirmed.
