Joe Biden signed executive orders on climate change and the environment on Wednesday.
He spoke about the coal industry, saying he wants to reclaim mines that have been closed and bring new jobs to the industry that built this country. Biden stressed that the government will begin to regulate the leasing opportunities for the oil and gas industry.National reserves and communities will be protected by the government when it comes to these agreements in the future.
West Virginia Governor Jim Justice discussed the future of coal jobs in the state during his press conference on Wednesday. Governor Justice said he’s spoken to President Biden about ensuring the safety of coal jobs and the future of hydraulic fracturing.
Governor Justice said, “We can’t do without coal today and we can’t do without gas.”
Wednesday’s actions will also create a commission focused on environmental justice and green jobs, direct federal agencies to rely on science in their rulemaking, and convene a climate summit of world leaders on Earth Day, April 22.
Now, this wasn’t well-received by the working American folks and VP Kamala Harris tried to “help” Biden to gain trust among the common American people.
Of course, it went horribly wrong.
She spoke of “abandoned land mines” in West Virginia when talking about job creation.
During a local interview with WSAZ 3, the vice president correlated the administration’s push for clean energy with the creation of new jobs.
“All of those skilled workers who are in the coal industry and transferring those skills to what we need to do in terms of reclaiming abandoned land mines,” Harris said. “What we need to do around plugging leaks from oil and gas wells, and transferring those important skills to the work that has yet to be done, and needs to get done.”
While land mines typically refer to underground explosives!

As a reminder, Joe Biden killed tens of thousands of jobs on his first day in office when he canceled contracts with the Keystone XL pipeline.
