A man has been jailed after he walked up to a Muslim teenager in the street and slapped her with bacon.
Alex Chivers was videoed by a friend as he launched a volley of verbal abuse at the young woman and her mother, telling them “you deserve this,” according to Telegraph.
The footage filmed on a smartphone shows the 36-year-old holding up the bacon, which is forbidden by Islam, to the camera. Watch the video below!
He is then seen running as the mother and daughter, wearing traditional Islamic dress, walked along a pavement in Enfield, north London.
Chivers then confronted the pair, striking the younger women with the open packet of bacon.
He also made reference to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terror group when he shouted “Isil scum” at one of the women.
Police said the victim was not injured but was left very distressed as a result of the incident on June 8 and reported it to police later that day.
He pleaded guilty to religiously or racially aggravated assault and has been jailed for 38 weeks over the attack.
He was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and will complete a 12-month supervision order when he is released from jail.
Detective Constable James Payne, from Enfield community safety unit, said: “This was a truly shocking incident.
“The victim was out with her mother and getting on with her day when Chivers abused her and then set upon her with something he knew would both upset and offend her.”
