FBI Director Kash Patel announced the bust on October 31, 2025, calling it an “incredible success” and praising the agents for “crushing our mission to defend the homeland.” The plot unfolded in online chatrooms, where an undercover FBI agent infiltrated early discussions, and escalated with references to “pumpkin day” for Halloween. Multiple subjects, including two teenagers linked to an ISIS chat room, were nabbed in Dearborn and Inkster, with a nexus to foreign extremism but not specified as ISIS or Al Qaeda. No current threat, but the group’s “constituency” for violence is chilling.
