You know that perfect karma moment when Europe smugly tells President Trump “no thanks” on sending ships to protect tankers in the Strait of Hormuz — then Iranian-backed militias immediately start launching drones at European facilities in Baghdad? That’s exactly what just unfolded, and it couldn’t be more satisfying.
As we reported, Trump called out the Europeans for refusing to help form a coalition to escort tankers through the critical waterway. He delivered a much-deserved mic drop: “How many times have we saved Europe’s bacon? How many decades have we provided them protection from Russia, only to have them not pay their fair share until I forced them to do it? Yet they can’t even be bothered to provide us help now — to protect their own interests.”

🚨 HOLY SMOKES. President Trump just EVISCERATED American “allies” refusing to help the US secure the Strait of Hormuz, openly MOCKS them
“Do you have any minesweepers? ‘Well, we’d rather NOT get involved, sir!’ I said, you mean for 40 YEARS we’re protecting YOU and you don’t… pic.twitter.com/PdzEt8hIT5

Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius even brushed it off, saying “We didn’t start the war.” Classic European free-riding at its finest.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius:
We did not start this war.
What does the world expect, what does Donald Trump expect from a handful or two handfuls of European frigates to achieve there in the Strait of Hormuz, which the powerful American Navy cannot manage alone?… pic.twitter.com/DtlPVDyRJT

They didn’t have to wait long for the bill to come due.
On Monday, a drone slammed into the Royal Tulip Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad’s International Zone — the exact site of the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq and other diplomatic facilities, including the Saudi Embassy. Iraq’s interior ministry condemned the attack on diplomatic personnel.

Around the same time, another explosion rocked the area near the United States Embassy. You can watch the dramatic C-RAM (counter-rocket, artillery, and mortar) system successfully intercept the incoming drone/rocket launched by Iranian-backed militias.

There’s a karmic lesson here for the Europeans — if they had any sense to learn it. Act cowardly, refuse to pull your weight when America asks for basic help securing global shipping lanes, and the bad guys will smell weakness and come straight for you. The same militias that hit the EU site were also targeting the U.S. Embassy. Turns out it **is** their battle whether they like it or not.
Europe loves to lecture America about “multilateralism” and “shared responsibility” until it’s time to actually share the load. Then they hide behind “we didn’t start the war” while expecting U.S. protection forever. Trump was right to call them out. Now the drones are flying, and the free ride is getting expensive.
Patriots see it clearly: strength and alliances matter. Weakness gets punished. Europe just got a very loud reminder.
