Happy Labor Day – Here’s What President Trump is Doing for American Workers

While many were busy enjoying their holiday weekends, President Donald Trump tweeted about Labor Day. He wrote:

“We are building our future with American hands, American labor, American iron, aluminum, and steel. Happy ‪#LaborDay!” also sharing a picture of himself and his wife FLOTUS Melania waving.

To celebrate Labor Day, NTK takes a look at a few highlights from his first eight months. Here’s what President Trump is doing for American workers:

Tax Reform: Following Congress’s failure to repeal and replace Obamacare, Trump and Republicans have moved on to the monumental effort of reducing Americans’ tax burden. Trump and the GOP are currently working on a plan that, they say, would grow the economy and let Americans keep more of their own money.

Withdrawing from TPP: Trump kept one of his signature campaign promises in the first few days of his administration by withdrawing the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Derided by both Trump and traditionally Democratic labor unions as a bad trade deal for American workers, the issue helped propel the president to the White House.

Immigration Reform: The president recently endorsed a Senate Republican plan to slash legal immigration in an effort to protect American workers from downward pressure on their wages. The proposal, crafted by Sens. David Perdue (R-GA) and Tom Cotton (R-AR), would limit low-skilled immigration and curb the practice known as “chain migration.”

Renegotiating NAFTA: Another of the president’s campaign promises has been quietly progressing in the background. Trump hammered Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign over her connection to the North American Free Trade Agreement, and it worked. Representatives from Mexico, Canada, and the United States met in Mexico City this weekend to begin talks.

Today is Labor Day. Unions made “America” great back when the union movement was strong, good wages and secure jobs for working men and women. Too bad the oligarchs have scraped away at our good middle-class life until we’re back to 19th-century conditions.

All I can say is- Happy Labor Day to all my union brothers and sisters, and God bless President Trump and the United States of America.
