Portland police say officers shot and killed an armed man who was involved in a domestic violence incident.
The incident began just after midnight Sunday when police responded to a physical fight between a man and woman around SE 148th and Clinton in Portland. But when officers tried to arrest the man — whose name has not yet been publicly released — a struggle broke out followed by gunfire.
Video captured by Chris Ponte of Oregon Cop Watch shows the altercation and shooting of a suspect by a PPB officer.
Just after the struggle begins, the suspect is on the ground with the officers on top and trying to control him. The video shows both officers have their guns holstered. It appears the suspect pulls out a gun and fires it into the air near the male officer.
About 15 seconds pass between that shot, which police said was fired by the suspect, and the 6 shots that follow.
PPB Chief Chuck Lovell responded to the scene and the mayor’s office was notified of the shooting. “I’m glad our officers are okay, and this highlights how dangerous this job can be,” Lovell said in the news release.
Late Sunday, PPB identified the officer who shot the suspect as Officer Mina Cavalli-Singer, who has been with the bureau for nearly 5 years.

Neighbor Judi Christensen said she heard the gunfire and rushed out to see what happened.
“We heard a distinctive gunshot very loud and we both, my son and I, both said “oh my god that’s awful close” and then a split second later there was five more: bam, bam, bam, bam,” she says.
Christensen says she lives in a senior community that’s now living in fear.
“A lot of these people are, they’re not coming out again. There’s a lot of older people here but after last night I’m not going anywhere without protection. I actually thought last night about getting a gun, getting the permit for a concealed weapon,” she says.
Antifa decided to react just minutes after the shooting:
The reaction of #Antifa members in Portland to the shooting is to say that the armed suspect should have had the right to kill the cops. (They believe all cops should be killed & the US disbanded so they can take power.) Antifa member Javier Ivan Reyes: https://t.co/EuolQS6rdz pic.twitter.com/jo4dnMcB28

#Antifa in Portland organized a gathering where the armed domestic violence suspect was shot dead by police overnight. They're telling people to meet at 8 at a @SharisPies restaurant in NE Portland. The armed suspect fired a round near an officer's face.https://t.co/v65jYXaTDA pic.twitter.com/lt3HqzZcL8

#Antifa currently have people on the ground at the @SharisPies at 1832 NE 122 Ave. directing comrades to the new meeting location at the corner of SE Clinton St. & SE 148th Ave. They didn't bother to look where the shooting had actually occurred when they made the original flyer. pic.twitter.com/WwT0gHhC0j

PPB said it is conducting an internal review of the shooting before the case goes to the Police Review Board, a group of community members, law enforcement personnel, and representatives of the Independent Police Review Division.
Let’s clarify the situation!
It can be seen in the video after the cameraman asks if the cops need help, that the male officer has gotten the gun away from the perp. Then the perp reaches for the female cop’s weapon multiple times. You can see his hands on her gun.

This is exactly what should happen, but stand by for the riots.
The latest reports confirm that huge groups are gathering in front of the victim’s house!
